Our Policy to you --

We strive for accuracy, but are only able to repeat stories that are printed in other journals or otherwise posted. Considering that all news sources are somewhat suspect (jayson blair notwithstanding -- every news story is suspect because it is written by humans, edited/censored/prioritized by capitalists who need to stay in business, and everything is done under incredibly tight deadlines.) Check out any news story that you know something about, and you will find all kinds of idiosyncratic errors.

Opinion pieces can be even worse. So to find the truth, it is often best to go to pundits who have a good reputation for telling the truth no matter what the cost, and especially those who are making opinions that appear to be contrary to their normal slant. William Safire and Seymour Hersh for example.

In the 1970's it got so bad, Hunter Thompson started "Gonzo Journalism" deliberate fiction that tended to come closer to the truth than the filtered, censored, re-spun, regurgitated, so called "facts" that showed up in even the best papers. This is why something like the invasion of East Timor and the wanton destruction of a culture which had the tacit approval of King Krony Henry Kissinger, by his good Krony buddy, Suharto, and left 175000 people dead was relegated to a one paragraph story on page 56 of the NYT, the 'best' newspaper on the planet.... Did this bring about a better world because our buddy stomped them before the Russians or Chinese could invade? perhaps. Was this worth the price? (Take the Krony Kwiz and see where you land)

As Benjamin Franklin said, "Freedom and Responsibility are inseparable." It's up to you. If you don't stop the Kronies, the Kronies WILL control your life, for their own self-interest at your expense. They hope you won't notice. Or will get so cynical you will just ignore them.

That being said, and knowing that there are biases of all kinds in all media, we try to bring you factual information about the powers that be -- the kronies (or if you like, cronies) who collude together for self-interest over public (meaning typically ** your** ) good.

Cronyism has always been part of Society, but the more you know about it, the harder it is for a bunch of cronies to steal public resources, set public policy for personal gain, effect really bad policy, etc. It is always harder to be a local crony too, because your crony reputation grows over time. Thus, the easiest place to be a crony is at the highest level of goverment, which is why we focus a lot of The Krony Kronicle there.

So what else is a news service good for if not to strive to meet the lofty goal of "The Better Rule"? Let's leave the place better than we find it. Let freedom ring. "Love your country, but don't trust your government."

We at "The Krony Kronicle" have no hidden agenda other than to work toward a reduction in violence and wasting of non-renewable resources so that a sustainable civilization may result that can last a few centuries for our kids and their childrens childrens children.
